Inside the Independence County Jail

As noted by the Arkansas Sheriffs' Association directory, the jail stopped booking female inmates in 2018 due to staff shortages. Female arrests from the county are moved to a partner jail in a nearby county. Male arrests are held in Batesville.
Visitation runs on a tight schedule. Felony visits are on Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Misdemeanor visits are on Sundays from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. A lunch break runs from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m., and all visits end by 2 p.m. Each inmate gets one 20-minute visit per week with up to four guests.
